Why Stay at the Conference Hotel?

The AABC conference hotel is the center of Birth Institute activities!  It's easy to go from your room to the education sessions and meetings, and there are many opportunities for networking with your fellow attendees. Plus the group rate is a savings of up to $70/night off of the prevailing rates (and it includes the resort fee!). There also are other reasons that you need to consider before you look for alternate lodging:

When AABC contracts with a conference hotel, we guarantee the hotel that our attendees will reserve a certain number of room nights.  In return the hotel provides the use of their meeting facilities and a discounted group rate with a low rate guarantee.

If AABC does not meet the contracted sleeping room commitment, we must pay the difference. Unfilled rooms can cost the conference thousands of dollars. Not only would these financial penalties hurt AABC this year, but it would affect our ability to negotiate as beneficial a hotel contract for the next Birth Institute. This would have an impact on registration fees in the future as well.

What if AABC doesn't contract for sleeping rooms? Attendees will pay more to stay at the conference hotel. AABC will incur additional expenses for meeting room rental fees, which can be quite costly. The hotel will not hold a block of rooms for attendees, which may result in attendees scrambling to find lodging for the conference. In the end, we all end up with higher expenses; many of those attending will pay a higher price for their hotel rooms, and future conference registration fees will be pushed higher.

Please support AABC and the Birth Institute by staying at the conference hotel!
