Led by experienced birth center professionals, this highly interactive workshop covers every critical aspect of planning and launching your center.
In this workshop, you will:
tour a local birth center
connect with a panel of birth center owners to glean all of their lessons learned
collaboratively learn with expert faculty about:
birth center operations
budgeting and financial management
community assessment
site selection and facility design
and so much more!
Your registration unlocks a comprehensive digital library packed with actionable tools, templates, and resources to guide you at every stage of your birth center journey. This library includes material from dozens of birth center experts and several decades of experience!
COURSE FORMAT
To make the most of our time together, we will be offering this course in a hybrid format, though the majority of content will still be covered in-person!
Thursday, October 22nd, we will come together for a brief kick-off for our cohort to get connected and ground in the philosophy and scope of birth centers!
Then, October 28th - 29th, we get to maximize our time in-person on topics participants have the most questions and excitement about!
Finally, you will be asked to complete four brief sections independently online by November 30th.

FACULTY
Jen McClellan
Brianna Bennett, MBA
Brianna is an expert in birth center administration and an experienced nonprofit medical manager. She has served as faculty for AABC for more than 10 years teaching workshops throughout the U.S., consulting with midwives, medical leaders, and entrepreneurs. She understands all facets of financial management, HR, marketing, program development, and business grit. Brianna worked for more than 15 years as the business director of the Women's Birth & Wellness Center in Chapel Hill, NC where she helped the center grow and expand its services to include more than 7,500 clients. Brianna also helped to kick-start a second birth center in Asheville, NC in 2016.
Amy Johnson-Grass, ND, LN, LM, CPM
Amy is the owner and director of Twin Cities Birth Center in St. Paul, Minnesota. She is a midwife, naturopathic doctor and licensed nutritionist. She opened the first birth center in the Twin Cities and built the idea of birth centers in Minnesota starting with being instrumental in passing legislation to license birth centers in 2010. She is a past president of AABC.
