AABC Diversity + Inclusion Scholarships
At AABC, we recognize the vital importance of diversity among birth center providers and the need for inclusive care delivered with cultural humility. Our vision is for the AABC community—including our conferences and membership—to reflect, support, and celebrate people of all races, ethnicities, genders, ages, abilities, religions, and sexual orientations.
To help make this vision a reality, scholarships are available for the following educational programs at the AABC Birth Institute:
AABC Birth Institute
AABC How to Start a Birth Center Workshop (pre-conference workshop)
AABC Learning Collaborative for Birth Center Sustainability (pre-conference workshop)
AABC Foundation Lisa Ross Memorial Scholarship
The Lisa Ross Memorial Scholarship, named in honor of Lisa Ross, an early pioneer in the development of birth centers, provides the general registration fee for the AABC Birth Institute, as well as a $500 stipend for travel and lodging.
Note: The Lisa Ross Memorial Scholarship award does not include registration fees for pre-conference workshops.
Since 2004, the AABC Foundation has awarded the scholarship to midwives and administrators practicing in birth centers and full-time midwifery students with the desire to work in a birth center. Over the years, the scholarship has helped promising clinicians, administrators, and students find their place and grow in the world of birth centers.
